I'VE LEARNED THAT ALL THE EDITOR'S HIGHLIGHTED AREAS WERE DUE TO AMAZON SENDING OUT AN OLD PLACEHOLDER COPY INSTEAD OF THE NEW VERSION TO EVERYONE WHO PRE-ORDERED! THIS IS NOT THE AUTHOR'S FAULT. I WILL BE RE-READING THIS STORY THIS WEEK AND WILL ADJUST (if needed) MY REVIEW SCORE. I did pre-order mine and went into my Amazon account and found the book. There was an update under the book and I updated. Then I went to my library and deleted it from my device and then re-download the story. All the highlighted areas by the editor have been removed. I would suggest anyone who pre-ordered and has left a review to do this to have a clean edited copy. The rest of my review is based on the error of Amazon. As I said not the author's fault but I don't want to adjust my review until I see how the story flows without all the distractions. I feel the blurb on Amazon needs to read about the pre-ordered copies. But, since it doesn't I am including this in my review for now.*************************************************************************************************************************At first I thought I alone received an Editor notes e-book. It is highlighted throughout with suggestions by (assuming) the editor after reading the comments, I realized it wasn't just by e-book that was marked, but seems everyone received this, as of this writing. Be warned that it is very distracting with yellow and a few green highlights with how the author needed to change wording, phrases, wrong names etc etc. Changes not made! I can't get over a publisher didn't catch what was released to the reader.The Lord's name is used in vain so many times. Lovemaking described once outside of marriage, heat level 2 out of 5.It's a shame how this was released because the author had some twists/surprises that were shocking - didn't see it coming.No mention why the housekeeper forged a bond with the former Countess. The H came across so many times as being bi-polar. He would make statements and then would contradict himself.The story is long, and could be shorten. No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, some romance and a tad of spice. (ljb) Timothy Lexington, Earl of Clarcton, needs a governess for his daughter. His life and home are full of secrets, and he wants to keep them there. Miss Anne Gilbert is just what he needs, a governess of discretion.This is a story with secrets, a missing person mystery, a ruse, and a few twists and surprises. It has a bit of a Gothic feel to it. It takes place in an impressive (according to Anne) castle with a brooding Earl and secretive staff. Anne is intelligent and caring. She is immediately taken with Timothy’s daughter. Four-year-old Frances is delightful. The villain is a surprise, but he gives himself away. I enjoyed the story, and I loved the ending. Engaging story, interesting characters. A good read.I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
